Bus service will be provided if you are eligible for bus service. Full uniform is required. Arrival and Dismissal: Please arrive on time for both drop off at 7:50 AM and dismissal at 2:25 PM at the school yard doors by the steps- Door #3. On half days dismissal will be 10:50 AM.
For your child’s safety, I must be notified in writing if someone other than a parent will pick up your child. You may notify me directly on the “Homework Agenda” which you will receive every week. No child will be released to someone other than their parent without a note or timely call to the office.
All children attending after-care must have the day(s) written on the “Homework Agenda”, or again, a timely call to the office.
Lunch and Snacks: Children should bring a healthy lunch and snack and a drink with both – a large thermos (should be sufficient for both lunch, snack and water breaks)
On half days please send your child to school with a snack or lunch, but not both unless they will be attending after-care.
Only drinks with straws or spouts are permitted.
Both lunch and snack MUST be sent in a brown paper bag with your child’s name and labeled either “Lunch” “L” or “Snack” “S”.
Also, it is very important that you stress to your child that although it is wonderful to share, sharing is not allowed at snack or lunch time.
Hot lunch will also be available on full days…more information to follow.
Uniform: For your convenience, all uniform items are purchased at FYLNN & O’HARA, which is located at 2645 Forest Avenue, (718) 227-5499. The sneakers for kindergarten must be all white VELCRO sneakers. Absent Notes: Absentee notes must be sent in on the first day of child’s return to school to be recorded. The absent notes can be printed from the school website: https://adny.tads.com. Your child will be responsible for all homework missed during their absence. Homework: This should take approximately 20-30 minutes each day depending on your child. Please work closely with your child and correct any errors that may occur, especially in penmanship. Please SIGN all homework on the “Homework Agenda”. You will receive a hard copy & digital copy on the school website: www.olqpsi.com, every week. In addition, homework worksheets will be sent home in folders frequently. Please work closely with your child and correct any errors that may occur. A soft lunch bag for lunch and snack—Please place your child’s lunch in one brown bag and label it “L” for lunch & in another brown bag and label it “S” for snack. Place both brown bags in your child’s soft insulated lunch bag.
A large thermos for lunch, snack and drink breaks
(1) large school bag, big enough to fit your child’s folder(s) and several books everyday NOTE: NO rolling school bags

(1) large roll of contact paper to cover textbooks and notebooks (Keep contact paper at home for contacting some of the books given to you on the first day of school)
Several packages of paper bags for lunch and snack time. (Keep the brown bags at home so you can place your child’s lunch in one bag and label it “L” & in another bag snack labeling it “S.”) Again, please place both brown bags in your child’s soft insulated lunch bag.
EXTRA SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR INVENTORY FOR YOUR CHILD: Please send in a clear zip lock bag with your child’s name on it containing the following EXTRA items to be placed in inventory for your child:

Pencil cases will be sent home during the week and on weekends to have parents ensure the children have sharpened pencils. Books: All workbooks and notebooks should have your child’s name and contacted the day you receive them and returned to school the next day. Folders: Place your child’s name on the (2) plastic folders: Folder #1: The Homework folder will go home every day and should be returned the following day. Please check the homework folder for the homework agenda and memos each day (label the left side “HOME” and the right side “SCHOOL”). Place anything you have for us on the right side labeled “SCHOOL”. For example, absent/personal notes, money, etc. Folder #2: The Study folder will go home on Fridays and returned on Monday. The Study folder will have review material in it for you to study with your child, and website log-ins. For your convenience, make a copy of everything in this folder to keep at home. Phonics: We will spend a week on each letter of the alphabet. During this time, we may ask the students to bring in one item and picture representing that letter, as part of a homework assignment. Please study the letter for recognition and practice printing the letter each week. Report Cards: Four Report Cards will be distributed this year. Children’s grades will be viewable to kindergarten parents after the every quarter on the New York Archdiocese Website: https://adny.tads.com. You will be provided with a password to login by the office. The First Quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences to discuss your child’s progress will be announced at a later time. However, if you need to meet with me, do not hesitate to send in a written note and an appointment will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Birthday Celebrations: We encourage children to celebrate their special day with their classmates. Parents may bring in cupcakes, cookies, munchkins, etc. and napkins. Please notify your child’s teacher several days before the celebration. Physical Education/Music & A Movement Class: These classes will take place once a week. A yoga mat is needed for “Movement Class.” All children are expected to have white VELCRO SNEAKERS (kindergarten’s uniform shoe). Scholastic Book Clubs: Book club orders will be on-line from the Scholastic Book Club—Teacher Code: LDVKY Outerwear and all Possessions: Your child’s first and last NAME must be on ALL possessions, so please place your child’s name on everything (schoolbag, folders, books, the two pencil cases, sweater, snack, lunch, etc.). Miscellaneous Notes:
The first two weeks we will be practicing first and last names, using lower and upper case letters. Please work closely with your child, correcting any errors that may occur.
Hopefully we can schedule a class trip(s) during the year.
Our class will participate in holy day masses, school & graduation pictures, food drives, “Bingo” games, a plant sale, a graduation ceremony, and more.
Please be sure your child has enough rest on school nights.
